Normalising Nudity
A group for people with a common interest in using nudism/naturism to normalise nudity in society, and promoting healthy attitudes to the human body. We will share ideas, events, media, etc. that will help make non-sexual nudity acceptable generally and not only in reserved areas. Society's attitudes towards nudity lead to unreal expectations about appearance, shame, and ignorance of what a...
Spreading the good news about Nudism
Return to DiscussionsI created an email address that has the word naked in it and use it when I have to provide it to my insurance company, the city building dept, or ANYONE who I'm fairly sure will not be offended. I just explain, "Oh, that's because we're nudists" and they all seem to take it in their stride. I let them know that we do wear clothes when required - at the gym, grocery store, etc, but I sleep naked and live naked when at home. I save my warm jammies for chilly days. All our children are grown and have left the nest, but although we didn't raise them as nudists (we only changed to a nudist lifestyle 6 years ago) they are accepting, after recovering from the initial shock. They know we have friends who are also nudists who are welcome to remove their clothes when visiting, but they also let me know when they are about to drop by (our kids) to give us an opportunity to cover up. My youngest daughter stated that everyone has their own level of comfort regarding modesty and we respect that in others. I find that sharing my email address creates a great opportunity to help normalize nudity in my community.
A naked hello. Very well said. If more nudist took that stand, it may be more accepted by others. I have let the restaurants I get deliveries from, I am a nudist and if they would let their drivers know. If they have an issue, all they need to do is call when on their way, I would get dressed. When I answer the door, I stand far enough behind the door as to mot be exposed, but enough showing for them to know I'm naked. When I asked if I need to put something on, most people say no. Just last week, after standing in the door taking to two church ladies, they asked if we could sit down on the porch to continue our discussion. I said,, "You do realize I'm naked?" they said it was not an issue, so I got us some tea and we talked for another 30 minutes. People actually accept nudity more than we realize. Naked hugs and kisses.
Thank you for sharing this. I've been a member of AANR and the "Naturist Hub". I attend the "Meet and Greet" Zoom meetings twice each month. We're always discussing ways to bring up the subject of normalizing our nudist lifestyle. I'll be sure to bring this up.

NR,
Have you received any negative feedback over your nude address?
NR,
The way that I am helping to normalize nudity. Is that I answer my door nude. Unlike some here on TN & TS. I do NOT "hide" behind my door. Hell I couldn't even IF I wanted to. As both of my doors open out NOT inwards. I understand WHY they are doing so. They aren't "hiding" behind the door because they are "embarrassed" about being seen nude. They recognize that sadly there are still some people who are offended by the sight ofa nude person.
I do however do like a LOT of nudists do. That is that I have a sign on my door informing visitors that I am a nudist und that I WILL be answering the door nude. I have my cellphone number on the sign so that if someone doesn't want me to answer the door nude. They can either call or text me und ask me to cover up.
Originally I put the sign up for food delivery drivers. But I later changed it so it addressed everyone.
So far NO ONE has either called or texted me to ask me to cover up. HOWEVER some have gone to lengths NOT to look at me. Such as handling me my pizza over their shoulder. Proving that they read my sign und understood that I was a nudist & would be answering the door nude.
Question, wouldn't it be easier to just call or text me?
I did have a conversation with one driver who wanted to know if was from Miami or if I had gone to Haulover beach. Which tells me that even if he himself isn't a nudist. He isn't offended by simple, nonsexual nudity.
These are good & creative things people are doing to spread the word of nudism and trying to normalise it. I mention my home nudity to some people I talk with and many are naked some of the time but not all. That will depend on the weather of course and where people live but making it a normal state of being is a good goal / ideal to spread to others.
No, I have NEVER received any negative feedback from sharing my NakedReader email. I just explain that it's easy to remember b/c I like to read, "we" (although it's just my email, I like to emphasize that my husband and I are BOTH nudists) and that we are nudists. It also contains my birth year. When my old email acct started to get clogged up with spam and I was missing important stuff, I started giving out the email I created for this site to my banks, insurance company, the utility company, my lawyer, our electricians, plumbers, my realtors, my gym, doctor's office, pharmacy etc and I ALWAYS take time to explain how my email address is a brief description of who I am and my interests. I always reassure them that I will always be clothed when I visit their facilities. ---- The result is that it helps people to understand that Nudists are just normal people they may run into on any day without realizing it. I think it also triggers the thought in their heads that maybe they could try nudism themselves. I hope it does.
