St Lucie County Commission

Return to Discussions

I read somewhere on the Forums that the "St. Lucie, Florida County Commission is preparing to vote on whether or not to officially recognize Blind Creek Beach as a nude beach. Residents are already expressing outrage, arguing that sanctioning beach nudity will encourage sexual activity and lewd behavior." Are there any St Lucie County residents/voters here? Can anyone give us an update on when the Commission will decide and whether or not it might pass?

RE:St Lucie County Commission

TCN referenced in their latest email blast an article in TC Palm about the County Commission intent, and that paper has actually also printed an editorial, and the stories were very affirming of having it a nude beach and none of the comments I saw looked very negative, other than perhaps who pays for the anticipated improvements that go along with the official recognition. Not to say there wont be any resistance, but with support from resident nudists this seems to be headed a great direction.

Sounds good. Thanks for the update. If/when you hear more, I would appreciate it if you would post again here.

I see what you're saying. But giving a beach a formal nudist designation can help rid it of pervs etc because nudists will feel comfortable about reporting bad behavior without fear of being arrested themselves. At least that's the way it seems to work at Haulover. Hopefully it will work that way at BCB too. Problem is, that case needs to be made to the commission as well as the county residents before the decision is made one way or the other. If it doesn't pass first time around, it might be a long time before there's a second chance.
