  • relaxing on the river

    5.00

Love the place. Been going to Rooster Rock for a few years now. Lots of walking paths. When the river water level is down, lots of beach to walk on and lounge on. Pretty popular place in the summer. Walking out to the island allows people to venture out and stroll on lots of beach. Boating is fun as well. Nearby boat launch makes it easy. We plan on making several trips this summer. We have an annual parking pass.

Pros: Lots of beach and paths to walk. Lots of space to spread out in summer. easy access from the park entrance.

Contras: Weather in spring and river water levels do not mix with nude visits.

  • So relaxing!

I love to get away from the mass of people and walk to the river side of the island. You can stay cool and nude in full sun. Better bring the sun screen because you'll forget you need it! I love it. It is a bit of a walk but who cares.

  • Rooster Rock

The park used to get a lot of people mostly couples. Now it is about 85% men or gays. There is no volleyball anymore like it used to have. The park rangers still patrol the area once in awhile. Mexicans will come down to gawk but refuse to take off clothes.

  • Great view, bad reputation

I think I have a nickname for this park -- The Park of 1000 Trails. You could almost get lost to and from the beach -- a beautiful hike no matter which trails you choose. Unfortunately, many of the minor trails through the woods end in small clearings for a simple reason: this nude beach is a notorious location for gay hook-ups. I decided to give this beach the benefit of the doubt; it had a bad reputation, but I was willing to give it a try. The hike in was long but relaxing... very beautiful setting. One great advantage this location has over the nearby Collins Beach on the other side of Por…

Pros: Beautiful natural setting, Nice hike to and from beach, Private atmosphere

Contras: Earned its reputation as a gay cuising location
