Sep 20, 2012Similar here: try not to use the car at the city (I much prefer walking, or public transport + walking or bike, it also helps you to relax because you don't have to look for parking!), swimming (specially at the sea), sometimes I do running too, and hiking specially in autumm-winter. Also try to eat as healthy as I can, although I love meat and hamburguers, etc, I use to buy and cook lots of organic vegetables and fruit. And beer and wine are healthy, too!

Sep 20, 2012And also I like natural methods to prevent diseases (not to heal, I much prefer scientific medicine for that): vitamin C (lots of oranges, kiwis and lemons) for prevent the flus, or honey and ginger to prevent throat ache,...

Nov 7, 2012Take vitamins and other supplements, work out at gym, swim, get massage, pray and spent some time with the wife. A spouse knows how to take care of you in more ways than one.
ReactReply - MEMemberNov 7, 2012
DIET:

I am predominately vegetarian. I do eat eggs, yogurt, and fish. If I am out with friends I choose the best options available. (I will have free-range, grain fed, antibiotic/hormone-free turkey on Thanksgiving.)

EXERCISE:

I am a professional dancer so I get to workout daily. I have a Prius but I allow myself to drive to work only 3 times a month. I bike 2.5 miles each way to work. Pilates and (naked) yoga are a part of my regular regime. I make massage a part of taking care of mind (reduce stress) and body (caring for muscles).
ReactReply

Mar 19, 2015I do nothing apart from eating sensibly and doing a day's voluntary manual work each week. But I think I'm not bad for a 70 year-old.ReactReply - RA
Mar 20, 2015I try to eat right and of sensible portions. Run, nightly workout for an hour (either yoga or weight / resistance). Pretty much, just keep active. I also heat with wood, and cut and split 12+ cords a year. Go-devil and splitting axe for splitting.ReactReply - GL
Mar 20, 2015I don't smoke. I exercise daily but not excessively - mostly swimming. All my home-cooked meals are prepared from scratch with only fresh ingredients. I enjoy a glass of red wine with dinner - supposed to be good for the heart and blood circulation. And for my mental health I try not to worry about too many things unnecessarily ...

Mar 20, 2015It started by quitting smoking 25 years ago and marrying my wife whom is a vegetarian. She helped change my diet (mostly, steal a burger every now and then). Since I was a carpenter and avid surfer for many years i was in pretty good shape physically. After changing careers and mainly working from a desk and just getting older I have slowed down an bit but still surf when I can and do yoga (sometimes nude at home) but mostly at the Y.
About a year ago I crewed up my knee snowboarding on New Year's Eve (nice way to start the new year) so was pretty much chair-ridden for a good 6 months. I kept up my 12 ounce curls (actually 2-6oz since I drink wine) and the snacks along with it and the lack of movement added 10 pounds. This past summer we went on a really nice 10 day cruise to the Mediterranean with everything all inclusive and added 10 more. (picture was taken in Slovenia and man do I look fat)
Now that I'm able to I've gotten back into swimming (great for the knee) and surfing. Just started back up with the gym membership and being able to do yoga. Lost the 10 cruise pounds and working on the other 10 or more.
We are going back on another cruise to Northern Europe this summer and want some wiggle room. :-)

Jan 26, 2020As many of us said, we need to stay active, follow well balanced diet, take vitamin supplements as needed, apply body lotion to keep the skin well moisturized.

Jan 26, 2020oh gawd body lotion...i never used as a kid or adult. but now, getting older...need it daily. as a man, i prefer the unscented, non-greasy kind. hard to find a good one that actually helps. then again, you gotta do it all the time time, can't skip a day.

Jan 27, 2020I enjoy good food, good drinks, and good times. I do try to eat clean as in no processed foods. I will drink fairly regularly either wine with my wife or beer with the guys. All in moderation though. I try to enjoy my time off. I try to do as many chores during the week so my wife and I can enjoy as much time off together as we can.
