For everyone at home during the colder winter months, what do you do if you start getting cold? Clothes are a last resort, and an almost non-option, really. So what do you all do? Turn up the heat? Grab a blanket? I'm curious how you stay warm!

I live in a cold climate and have to balance two values--not wasting energy and preferring nudity. I spend a lot of time at home this year. On cold cloudy days I wear sweats doing sedentary things (which is almost all the time!). But when the sun shines on the south facing patio door I might get some naked time just basking in it. Summer will return eventually (sigh).
When my sons moved out, I had to up the furnace as well
Then they were not comfortable with you being nude around them? Our adult son lives with us and he is not either. I do cover for planned activities, dinner, playing a game, etc. However, for incidental encounters and if he happens to look out the window when I am on the deck or in the pool, he knows that I am likely to be nude and accepts it reluctantly.

For me, it's as easy as putting another log on the fire. I am accustomed to lower temperatures in the house than most. I will increase the temperature if I have anyone over. (Of course Covid has made me really energy efficient).
Other than sleeping, showering, shaving and exercising, I am rarely nude in the colder months. I don't want to spend the money or generate the CO2 that would result from keeping the house warm enough to be nude. In most years, we go somewhere warm for at least 3 weeks in the winter and I am generally nude in our room or apartment when we are there.
Ah, somebody on my wavelength! Thanks for your post.
Why did you feel the need to post this twice?
It's a bug in the system. It happens to me occasionally. I do go back and delete the duplicate posting though.
. I do go back and delete the duplicate posting though.
I do too when I see that has happened. I think some folks believe if they delete one they will delete all of them, so they end up leaving all the duplicated posts no matter how many it is. I sometimes see 5,6, or even 7 identical posts one after the other on here.

Well this last week it was -36 C in Calgary. I keep the temperature at a comfortable level so I can be naked. Problem is, when the sun goes down the windows radiate the cold and I end up with serious shrinkage! I raise the thermostat a few extra degrees if necessary. It doesnt cost that much for the extra heat and I hate having to put on clothes at home!

They have 1/4"gap all the way around when slid into the window sill. The frames are covered on both sides with shrink window film. Then Sticky backed foam on all edges to fill the gaps, for a tight seal to the window sill. This creates two dead air spaces. These have lowered the LP consumption by well over 1/3. Current outdoor temp is -18f, the non contact thermometer shows the inside of the exterior wall at 67f, and the window film at 51f. When I first set these up the bare glass of the double paned windows was 35 at 0 f outside temp. The sliding glass patio door is covered in bubble wrap against the glass and is currently showing 50f.

Back when I was in the single digits Mom made frames like that for the aluminum casement windows in the kitchen one day while Dad was at work because the aluminum frosted upon the inside! That weekend Dad made some fancier frames for the windows in the other room, but Mom's stayed in place all that winter in the kitchen. Thanks for the memories!

Thanks to the milder winters down south here, I just turn the heat up to stay fully nude during the winter. It's worth the extra few months of higher costs to live the way I always dreamed of living!

Your talk of mild winters reminds me that this is the most snow we've had here in South Wales for seral years.

Here in the southwestern US the winter days are milder than most but the nights may be below freezing. I found that wearing a warm bath robe loosely while on the patio or sometimes in the house is a great problem solver.

I add clothing in the order in which the body parts get cold.
Shorts first, then socks or slippers, then a shirt.
Long slacks are a last resort and I rarely wear them at home, even in winter!

Or maybe the socks if the floor ist cold. Wearing shorts is a social convention. I only wear them if neighbours can look into my rooom or on my balcony but not because of the cold. Slippers I only need to go into the cellar.

I too wear clothes as the weather dictates. First will be a shirt or even a sweatshirt, I always wear slippers at home and usually won't wear shorts unless I have someone coming over who isn't comfortable with my being nude. My house has poor insulation so I often wear sweatpants when at my computer.

I live near Springfield MO. As far as I can tell, we don't have winter here. Well, there may be a week (maybe two) during which it gets cold.

I wear a t-shirt and basketball shorts all year long. I only wear shoes when conditions are truly hazardous -- which, essentially never happens. My thought is, if it's possible to survive the vacuum of space for 30 seconds, then you can survive walking from your car to the store (which is heated) in 45 seconds.

If I worked outside, that would be entirely different.

My floors are entirely ceramic tile and they do sometimes get quite cold -- to the point that my feet go numb. I knitted myself a pair of wool socks -- which I wear when my floors are very cold.

Throw another log on the fire. Otherwise, take advantage on some low airfares to Florida. $30 one way.

I temd to remain naked until SWMBO tells me I'm looking cold at which point I slip on a track suit s It's not worth the hassle of arguing the point.
