Thank you for the translation! My German is a bit rusty now, but I could make out the first sentence. But the word "Shwul" was a new one for me. Was that in common use in Germany back in the 1970s? Or is that a new one? (I wonder if it was like the word "gay" in English. It's been around for centuries, but in my youth you didn't hear it used much for homosexuals. The words we used were "queer" or "fag" or "homo" instead.)

RE:Why so many gay guys?

I think the more appropriate question is "why do str8 guys think all gay guys want them?" In a nutshell, get over yourself as I think that's a very bigoted and arrogant attitude. A while back, I was at a Korean spa. I noticed this guy keep looking at me...everywhere he went he'd lock back at me to see if I was "checking him out" which is arrogance personified. He went to one of the saunas, I followed him and I asked "why do you keep looking back at me with your every move". There was no reply. I told him that he needed to relax and get over himself thinking that every guy there wanted him and assured him that I wasn't looking at his "junk". Gay guys are everywhere both out and DL. That hardly means that a gay guy is always checking another guy out for sex. There have been discussions here--on other boards--about how MOST guys--str8 and gay--size each other out. It's natural. However, that does not mean that a gay man wants you any more than an str8 guy does. Relax and enjoy nudism.

RE:Why so many gay guys?

It's been an interesting topic.

As Steve implied, it's a shifting societal dynamic we are seeing. It's been happening since the 60's and the YMCA banning full nudity.
More heterosexual males today are prone to think that if they see (look at) other men naked that it is somehow challenging their heterosexuality.

Straight guys shouldn't look at/see other men naked if they're not gay themselves. Looking at nude women is okay, looking at nude men is not, which is what I believe society makes most heterosexual males believe today.

Gay men on the other hand, (correct me if I'm wrong because I'm a straight guy) are more comfortable seeing other men nude, and are less likely to face judgement from friends if known to be on a site that has an abundance of male nudity. I think it may be one of the underlying reasons why there are so many gay men here. They are more comfortable with male nudity than the average heterosexual male.

I've seen quite the change over the years. From 6 years in the navy, gang showers to public gyms and covering up to guys showering in their underware.

It's refreshing to go to the Korean spa where communal male nudity is the norm. The exception, the ones who cover up. Men being totally comfortable around other nude men while enjoying their spa time. There are some levels of modesty but the norm is nude freedom. We all see each other, we all look, no one stares. No homophobia. Look if you want, I got nothing to hide, is the unspoken rule. It doesn't make you gay to look. But these are the liberated few.

Most phobic men today will never go there. It may be why many are reluctant to come to sites like TN. Even if it's just to see what the nudist lifestyle is all about. It's the "I don't want to see your junk!" mentality! It's too bad hetero male society has come to this!

I say there are the hormones in animal products that would contribute to it more in recent times.

My main point was not regarding the comfort level of either party with social nudity, rather it was more about being a member of a website that has an abundance of images of male nudity and the comfort level of being on it or joining.

I don't think gay people are any more likely to be more comfortable with social nudity than anyone else.

A better question is why so many straight men are afraid of nudity, and, implicitly, their own penises.

Are they? Or are they afraid of being in situations where their penises can be compared with those of other men? Or are they afraid of being shamed by women for having penises that are smaller then the "perceived" norm? (I put "perceived" in quotes because the comparison is often made with men in porn, whose equipment is hardly normal.)

The cure for this, obviously, is not less public nudity but more. The healthiest attitudes toward nudity are found where children have a chance to practice it, however limited that practice is ... in YMCA swimming pools, in gym showers, or in naturist communities. The more they see of other people's naked bodies, the more comfortable they are with their own.

I'm still leaning toward the theory that gay men are more likely to be at home with nudism because they've already gone through an ordeal of "coming out" when they declared and embraced their homosexuality. Declaring themselves to be naturists is just another step along that road.

One thing I learned long ago was to not over-think what someone else is or likes. Studied conversation can lead you to the truth and deeper conversation, if desired, can give you the truth. Aside from that, nudism is people, is desirable, enjoyable, healthy and just plain fun. So why muddy the water with nonsense?

The question is why so many gay guys. I don't know. It could be from hormones in animals for being used by humans. https://nutritionfacts.org/2016/09/13/estrogen-animal-products/
