Sex Discussions

When I'm with friends and we're clothed, we sometimes get onto the subject of sex. Is it okay to have sex discussions among friends even when we're nude?

Talk about whatever is comfortable and appropriate among you and your friends. Strangers here don't matter.

Yes. In my opinion.

Sure. Be a bit more restrained if you have someone(s) in the group who is just getting comfortable being socially naked, so they don't think the sex talk is tied to the nudity.

A neurotic attitude about the naked human body on society's part does not constitute a neutering of sexual desire on my part.

So yeah. Hell yeah, I'd say. I might even make rather a point of it under the right circumstances because sometimes cages need to be rattled.

The desperate dances we do to try to prove ourselves to the mainstream population leave us hobbling and curt off from embracing our wonderful, passionate sexual selves.

It is a drive like hunger and essential to our survival, but it's also a thing that goes a long way toward simply making life worth living.

As far as I am concerned, the same principle applies here as it does to the sentiment among some gay folks at Pride Parades that they should shun the drag queens and go go boys and present their finest suit and tie selves to impress the masses.

Screw that.

It isn't on them to have to win the tolerance of the larger society. It's up the larger society to stop being assholes.

I realize the world rarely works this way, but it is the way that is right, so it is the battle cry I will continue to shout.

There's nothing wrong with the gays and there's nothing wrong with the nudists, and both deserve and have a right to embrace the gift of their passions.

Society just needs to grow up and get its shit together.

Nudism isn't about sex but it isn't about total celibacy either.
So long as you behave yourself in public you can obviously talk about anything you like (even trainspotting and sport if you want).

When we are socializing in our group clothed we talk and joke about sexual stuff, we do that. It's a harmless discussion and most times funny. When we do it nude, it's the same thing it's all good fun and joking around, so to us there is no difference clothed or nude.

In the US there's a taboo against talking about sex, religions and politics. It's a clothed taboo, and being naked is also a taboo. One can wonder: is talking about sex while naked a double taboo, or a double negative which makes it perfectly neutral? I'll go for the second one.
As far as facing taboos, I've been realizing how not allowing people to talk about things is a way to control them. Instead of discussion an issue directly, much is inferred and that way people's thoughts are manipulated.
Taking the taboo off what we can discuss - and wear - leaves things and people more open, honest and vulnerable, and it's all good.

USA Taboos? Since when? My friends and I often talk about sex, religions and politics.

You and your friends may not be a representative sample, and obviously there is a wide range of thinking and behaviour BUT, if you compare US media to French, or even Canadian media (print and television network especially) the line between what is socially or morally acceptable and what is considered lewd, immoral or pornographic is much tighter to the conservative end of the spectrum. The US has a particular brand of puritanism that is deeply institutionalized in a way it is not in other liberal democracies. Think of the Janet Jackson nipplegate non-event. In what other similar country would that be an issue?

These ideas work themselves into the commentary, social policy and attitudes of lots of people. I don't think it's an accident that the locker room towel dance epicenter of the whole world is the US. although English Canada is not far behind. There is also this strange mix of absolute objectification and excessive modesty (at least in principle, I don't know if anyone takes it seriously outside evangelical circles) that creates lots of body shame and sexual shame as much as a way to sell stuff as a means of social control.

Yes, in our opinion, but to a point of not making anyone uncomfortable with questions or the depth of the discussion. Just because we are nudists doesn't mean all bets are off, all subjects are open for discussion and prying into one's sexual life or activity isn't completely open for discussion, just because you're naked or with nudist friends. Nudists should show tact, decorum, manners and respect for one another ... even when naked!
