Places to go?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to nudism. I'm a home nudist at the moment and want to start branching out to other places and meet other nudists. Anyone know some good places to be nude near Santa Rosa, CA?

Thanks
Derek C.

If you're willing to drive a bit, Lupin Lodge, The Sequoians, and Laguna del Sol are all within reach. I know there's also some spas that have clothing-optional areas in them up there, at least 2-3, iirc. A search for clothing optional spas should turn them up.

I also recommend Harbin Hot Springs in Middletown. A short but challenging drive, but it's a real experience. Go after the COVID restrictions are lifted,

My wife has agreed to go to Laguna Del Sol with me. Ever been there? If so, what was your experience like?

Not yet :-/ I hear it's pretty nice though from a few people. Apparently busier on the weekends and periodically has some events. I believe they make you do an introductory tour of the place before they allow you free reign though.

We've been to LdS. We didn't have to do the introductory tour, but we are AANR members and showed them our membership cards. We went mid-week our first time and for their Nudestock event the second time. Definitely busier on an event weekend. It is very nice there and we met the owners. We saw them a couple of years later on a Bare Necessities nude cruise and they remembered us.

If getting from Boston to Sacramento was as easy as getting from Boston to Orlando and Tampa we would go there every year. Since it isn't, we go to Cypress Cove and Lake Como now.

Well, I can't consider myself a regular, but I've visited there three times this year, camping out each time. The experiences there were pretty good. The first time, most of the facilities were closed due to COVID. The last two times, they were mostly open except for the restaurant, which was only serving burgers and such.

The last time was the most fun, regardless of the 110 degree heat, because I was there with the local non-landed club and they made me feel welcome. The other times, I didn't know anybody and that put a sort of crimp on the enjoyment.

You'll probably need the tour ... it's fee and short. I think the tours at these resorts are mostly for giving them the opportunity to run your driver's license through the Megan's Law database to see if you're on anybody's perv list

If you do decide to go, PM me and I might be able to arrange to be there, too. It's nice to have somebody you sort of know ... and I've posted enough on this forum for you to get to know me!

Ive been going for probably around ten years with my wife coming along from time to time. She enjoys it, it not her thing and shes usually got a million things going on. Most years up until 2019 when my back got severely messed up I would go about fifteen times each summer. Unfortunately my back got messed up and I only made it once in 2019 with my wifes assistance. Then COVID and spoiled it, but i was still dealing with my back anyway and had surgery in late 2020. Ive made it three times this year but am holding off again due to the current COVID situation as my wife a I both have at risk factors. Even though weve been vaccinated we know of three people that have had breakthrough cases with one dying because of his at risk issues

I digress. Laguna Del Sol is great and as fun as you want or quiet as you want except for major event and holiday weekends. Im sure they will take you around on a golf cart to show you where things are plus, as has been mentioned, it gives them time to run the Megans Law checks. Having them show you is nice so you have a better idea where you want to go.

The Main pool is busy on weekends and quieter on weekdays The crowd there is pretty different each time sometimes more cliquish, sometimes not. But if your wife is there with you you will meet more people right off. You need to be a bit outgoing and be willing to strike up conversations. Its a great place to get sun and enjoy the pool. There are umbrellas as well. The restaurant and bar are steps away across the road and on busier weekends they will open up the bar at the main pool as well and have a band or someone playing music in the afternoon.

The volleyball pool is down below the restaurant one the lake side. A great group, of people many regulars are usually there on weekends. They are very accepting of new comers and make you feel at home. The volleyball is not taken seriously everyone is there to have fun. There are some good player but they are not taking it seriously. Getting into a game is easy, wait at one of the sets of steps and when a game ends people will get out or if theres enough people they all clear out for the next people that want to play. Watch, ask, and youll have it al,figured out in no time. If your wife just wants to observe fora while the rest deck overlooks the pool, its a good place to sit and watch and/or get lunch.

Up near the pickleball and tennis courts is the family pool. It tends to have families there as it suggests but you can see families at any of them. This pool is more out of the way and Ive only passed by it.

Across the lake is the white hotel building that has the indoor pool and a great outside patio for getting sun. Ive gone over there a few times on off days and its been nice, but Im not sure what its like on typical weekends. The way the patio and building are oriented you can actually be comfortable gett Sun out there on warmer February days.

Walking around the lake can be quite enjoyable, there are paddle boats available to use on the lake as well. Another nice quiet place to go is to walk down the side of the lake where the main pool is down totheend them over the levee to the beach on the river.

Enjoy!

RE:Places to go?

My first nude beach experience was at Red Rocks, a little south of Muir beach (but I saw nudists there too). This is quite a way away from Santa Rosa but I think it's one of the finest places to experience nudism. You head North on Highway 1 so be ready to go through a zillion curves to get there. As a point of reference (because it's been years since I lived in CA) the parking area is just about a mile SOUTH of Stinson Beach, so if you get to Stinson you've gone too far.

It's a challenging hike down to the sand with a few cutbacks, and there are usually some rock climbers on the sea stacks nearby. Persevere and you will be treated to one of the prettiest pocket beaches in the area and one of the longest-established nude beaches on the west coast.

There are no amenities so you've gotta bring everything you'll need. The ocean there is wonderful but know that the location is also noteworthy to be part of the red triangle (or it was back in 2004), aka prone to shark-attacks. I only went in to my genitals (hey, there's no bathroom unless you walk a couple hundred yards north to Stinson Beach - where you'll also need a swimsuit -- YUCK!).

Believe me, it's worth the drive and everyone is amazingly friendly. One of the men I met there said he'd been coming to Red Rocks for forty years! I went five times when I lived in Napa and every trip felt more amazing. Lock your car for sure and don't leave anything valuable if you're smart, with some beachgoers speaking of theft. That didn't happen to me. Otherwise, let it all hang out and bring lots of sunscreen. Good luck!

Correction from my last post about Red Rocks beach - the parking area for Red Rocks as you drive NORTH on highway 1 is on the left hand, ocean side of the road. Muir Beach is SOUTH of Red Rocks, not north, sorry! Keep it bare and beautiful!
