RE:Is a "landing strip" a fashion statement?

I suppose it may originally have been a trend to keep the hairs reined in as swimsuits got smaller and briefer while not wanting to remove everything in a time when that wasn't common. Hence the term 'Brazilian' in terms of being compatible with such a swimsuit, rather than 100% removal, although the terminology seems to have drifted now.

Maybe it's more of a fashion now that the 100% option seems more common than in the past.
