RE: why is it that hard to know folks

If you try a smaller resort, you'll probably have better luck. The smaller ones I've visited were more inclusive...there were just fewer people and the ones there would speak to you. That's been my observation...I can't speak for the others. John.

RE: why is it that hard to know folks

Can shy people make friends at a resort? Maybe theyleave the shy person alone and he or she is too afraid to introducethemselves. Dilemma.
Of course you can but there are couple of things that will help ...
first, going during an event of some sort that will draw in more
than just the regulars who live there. The regulars already
have busy lives and routines and friends and it can often be easier
to chat with someone else who has come for the car show, or the
concert, or the potluck or whatever is going on. Second?
Say hi to people. I often find someone else sitting
alone and ask if they mind if I join them (this works best at
restaurants / picnic tables because you might get a weird look or
two if someone has obviously gone out of there way to find a quiet
corner to be alone). Push yourself outside of your comfort
zone by initiating contact if you can. Just like in the real
world if you ask someone a question, most of the time they will
answer and be glad of your interest. Compliment someone's
hat. Ask about the book they are reading. Whatever you
do, don't initiate contact by asking a closed question that can
be answered with just a yes or a no because that more or less ends
the conversation before it begins. And don't forget, it's
also okay to hang out by yourself if that is what you want and are
most comfortable with.

RE: why is it that hard to know folks

In general, meeting new acquaintances is difficult at best - especially if you're new to the lifestyle. It is even more difficult for those who are single or attending nudist events alone. I think maybe because people, in general, are suspicious of one's reasons for attending alone. With that said, I find that people in the nudist lifestyle are friendlier and emit less attitude. Personally, I would love to find a travel partner eliminating the loneliness of the road and the ability to meet others without suspicion.

My wife is dead set against nudity, so I have not gone to a nudist
resort or beach.
Do the resorts allow pets? I find walking a
pet tends to encourage spontaneous conversation.
I did mass
commuting for about 25 years. I took a bus and a train to and from
work almost every day. I know that idle times feels longer than
occupied time, so I would try to talk to whoever was standing near
me on the platform waiting for the train or bus. Some people would
look at me as if I was from outer space, others would pick up with
conversation.

Our club allows pets, many who live there through the season of
course have them with them. And yes if someone is walking
down the road with a cute puppy or their dog they always get
stopped by someone to greet and pet the dog.

RE: why is it that hard to know folks

Hello:I am new to this group, I am a closet nudist, one that gets nude when eveyone is out and I have nothing else to do. But my question is how do I break the ice in knowing people even tho I am 62yrs old happily married and all my kids are gone. I have tried but I would like to have friends chat with me, I am a good email pen pal, and I am open to most ideas and life styles. If you need a good email pen pal drop me a line and we can get to know each other.jim
