OK, what ARE the rules for posting in here?

On another thread, a series of posts was just deleted, beginning with a reasoned, but not "nice" post, and continuing through a couple of brief retorts. Are there specific, posted, rules for the tone / content of the forums? If the recent deletions are any indication, the chat room's "be nice" rule is now being applied to the forum, as well. Not that that is bad news, but it's new. Anyone in a position to speak with authority on the question - or anyone had recent experience in the forum that would help clarify how moderation in the forum is being done?
I realize this may have been addressed somewhere in here, but I haven't been able to find it.

The original thread for forum posting rules has gotten buried. (It's on page 5 now). But here's a link:Rules for posting
And here are the rules:
Rules for posting- Sexually Suggestive Topics will be deleted.
- Topics promoting Other websites or deemed SPAM will be deleted.
- Trolling or posts deemed to be rude will be deleted
- No pornographic links
- Although it is not a deletable offense, please refrain from use of profanity.
- Any members unable to follow these rules will have their account locked on the forum, or account deleted depending on severity.I haven't been following the forums much lately, but is there any chance the thread was deleted because the OP left the site?

Yesterday, 1-30-12, I posted a reply to a previous remark. Iverified that my remarkhad beenposted. Later on in the day, I discovered that my remark, along with a few others, had disappeared. The remark that I made did not contain any profanity or vulgarity, but it could be classified as a snide insult to an idiotic post. I don't feel that there was any legitimate reason that this post should have been deleted.

The Phantom Post Remover strikes again. There won't be any forum postsleft at the present rate of deletion. As for new threads, they are almost none existent since the implementation of the new forum format.

I am a bit flipper for more than 40 years. I just looked at a thread that I started. Each entry has a red X to delete the entry and a pencil for me to edit the entry. It appears that the person that initiated the thread can edit and delete any additional entries made by anyone.(Any documented bug becomes a feature. The more bugs that are documented the more features there are, The more features there are the more you can charge for the product.)Bob

Wow - you're right. I see the same thing on this thread. I've filed a bug report, although I suppose it's possible the "feature" is intentional - that would be one way to distribute moderation responsibilities, I guess. Anyone who's been deleted by that means could always start a new thread. It would be good to know how it's supposed to work.

Thank you, brother NIM.I just tried that and she gave me three whacks instead of the usual one or two. I can't suffer much more of this. (Do you have a spare room at the hacienda ? )
