Keep us posted-- I use to enjoy going there but stopped because of patrols .

I'm going to try again this weekend. Last Sunday there were very few people out on the beach on a gorgeous day, but I found it impossible to find a spot to sit down in the sun because the biting flies were out in force.
Here's hoping it's better this holiday weekend. Hope to see some folks this Saturday.

Saturday July 5, the beaches were pretty much deserted: I think everyone got their beachgoing jones done on the 4th.I only saw one person undressed on the south beach, and his behavior could be interpreted as rude: Stripped down as a couple women passed him and proceeded to rub lotion all over himself, then dressed again. In general it didn't seem like a good day to be social on the south beach, so I went to the north beach where I only saw one other person walking past my part of the beach, and I spent all day but those few minutes nude, including a couple brief skinny dips

Hmmmmm....the North Beach. Anyone else have any input on nudity there? It seems quieter there. Maybe better for nude sunbathing opposed to the cruisy nature of the South Beach.

So where on the North and South end of the beach do I go to find the spots?

The south end of the south beach is a lot less cruise-y than it was a decade ago. There are some guys who hang out together, but I haven't seen any funny business.
Generally, the further from the main swimming beach you are, the more possible to be yourself. Start at the Nature Center, take the beach path, and just keep going south. Don't cross where the Dead River meets the lake -- you can be ticketed. Stay away from the main trail crossing the dunes near that end, and you should be pretty safe. The few folks I've seen lately have been a bit north of that point (mainly because the dunes are a little cliff-y south of that point and no brush to shelter in)
On the North unit, park either at Zion's Hosah Park (near the power plant) and walk north along the beach, or at the small lot on the north side of the Sand Pond (the little fishing lake), walk down along the drainage ditch then south. Pretty much that whole area (except right by the Hosah Park boardwalk) is very sparsely populated.

I like the south beach during the week. I have seen more and more nude men, women and couple there over the last year. Just north of the dead river is a great spot. Been to the north beach a few times and found it too open.
