Beach Nudists.

Tell the group what nude beach you go to, where the location is, how often do you go, and what you like and don't like about it. Or tell us whatever the hell is on your mind lol. I put this group together to find out what beaches around the world are fun to go to in case people are traveling and wondering what a particular beach is like.

Drones at the nude beach

Return to Discussions

I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but has anyone had a drone flying over them while at the nude beach? How did or would you react?
This is happened to me twice both times this past summer at 2 different locations with 2 different reactions. First time I was at Blind Creek Beach in Port St Lucie, FL. It was a weekday and the weather was not all that great so it wasn't very crowded. A drone flew overhead and most of the people covered up. I did not and as the drone flew over me it stopped and hovered me for about 15 seconds then flew away. Someone asked me why I did not cover up and that the drone was taking pictures of me and I told him that It is perfectly legal for me to be nude there so I have no problem being photographed nude. I actually like it. At my age I take it as a compliment that people would want to take pics of me nude and also at my age I don't give a shit where they end up. The second time was at a beach on Lake Ontario about 60 miles north of Syracuse, NY. This beach is not an official nude beach, but people have been going nude there discretely for decades. I was chatting with a nude couple and a drone flew overhead. They quick put on bottoms (Topless is ok there) and said you better cover up. I said I don't care if pics of me nude are taken. They told me that there were rumors that the park rangers used drones to catch the nude sunbathers and ticket them when they left the beach. Don't they have anything better to do? At that point I did cover up.
To sum it up, I have no problem with being photographed nude, I actually enjoy it. But if I am at a place where it is not legal for me to be nude I will reluctantly cover up.

That is an invasion of privacy even if it is in a public situation.

Where at you at that you have access to a shotgun? The only time I have seen anyone have a shotgun was when we were at a lake gathering (non-nude) and one of the guys brought out a cased shotgun in case of alligators bothering us.
Just wondering.

In agreement with you... sure do not understand why whoever the pilot was does not just go to the beach instead of sending a drone. Nothing to see other than some naked people...
That is simple. If someone was to go to a nude beach and started taking pictures of people, they would most likely be confronted. The drone is a chicken shit way to keep a safe distance.

Different laws in different countries / states. In the UK it is not illegal to take photographs of anyone in a public location. There may be restrictions on what you do with the photo, publishing it etc. but actually taking the photo is legal.

However, shooting down the drone could be classed as criminal damage

In the UK it is not illegal to take photographs of anyone in a public location. /quote]True but it is illegal to fly lower than 50m above people.I would react by deliberately displaying all to the drone. As someone else said - At my age I take it as a compliment that someone wants to take my photograph. And, when told that the rangers (or police) use drones on an informal nude beach, I'd have to chose between covering my bits or covering my face (to avoid ID when leaving the beach). But it's not illegal to be nude in public in the UK. The Chief Constable for Scotland is reported to say that they don't need nude beaches as anyone can be nude anywhere. And, if we are nude in public, why restrict our public nudity to those around us. Photograph, publish and be dammed.

Incidentally I was amongst a crowd of nudists on a beach in Spain when a man in a microlite flew over, several times. We reacted by obviously taking his photo. He soon flew away.

My fellow nudists were convinced he was filming us, so we all behaved ourselves. Eventually he went away.

While we were on the roof terrace of a gay nudist guest house a light aircraft flew over. I guess he saw us and radioed his friends. Next there were two, then four light aircraft flying over. We just stopped what we were doing and waved at them

it would be no big deal imo at camp we've had planes circle , military helicopters hover over and at the nude beach I've seen people with cameras with telephoto lens that would capture a sand flea on the beach . the drones are just new technology the best advise I can think of when it comes to the nude beach is make sure your behaving because you won't know if it's operated by joe gawker , a park ranger or the sheriff .

I have never seen a drone at the beach, but I would not care if I did.
I did have a drone fly over my backyard. Again didn't care. I think it was my friend who did not know how the wife and I enjoy our patio.

Many years ago (long before they invented drones) I shared a house with a flying instructor. On sunny days he got his students to fly low over our back garden to see me sunbathing nude.
