Surgical body scars

First off, thank you for creating this group.
A short time ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
I opted for surgery and the complete removal of my prostate.
Within one week of being post-op, I developed blood clots in both of my legs and lungs.
An emergency surgery left me with huge abdominal scars from my sternum and down to my pubic bone.
It also left me without a belly button, since that was in the path of the surgeon's knife.
While I have recovered from the surgery, the comments from other people about my new scars were very hurtful.
I became very self-conscious about my body, especially if I was shirtless or naked.
The unwanted comments cut deeper than any surgeon's knife.
I have since had several more procedures to minimize the appearance of the scarring.
After talking with one of my fellow nudist friends, he convinced me to join him at our local nudist camp.
I did attend with him. It was great to be amongst other nudist friends who welcomed me and accepted me for who I am and for what I had gone through. I only wished that this topic appeared sooner. Everyone needs some body positivity. It goes a long way.
I am now headed outside to enjoy some more nude sunbathing.

RE:Surgical body scars

I had Spinal Fusion back surgery done in the Spring of 1981 . They used a rib and piece of my pelvis bone to create a new vertebrae for my back . So have those scars , along with the scar going down my spine . I totally accept them as being there . It's a sign of getting repaired . Thanks .

I'm sad to hear that people could be so insensitive.
My favorite line is always: You should see the other guy!
And for having no navel: Adam didn't have one either.
I am proud of you for being a survivor. I put that in the first person singular not because I know you, but since you're an inspiration. Being a male in my 50's, I've come to look at prostate cancer not as an if but a when.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. And what doesn't make us stronger, makes us more stubborn and cantankerous, and that's always done best naked.
Enjoy summer!
