Nude in the dorm
Return to DiscussionsWhen i was a student at Moody Bible Institute my dorm room was on the 7th floor. We had one floor mate that would start undressing in the elevator and stay nude the entire time he was on the floor. The common area was across the hall from his dorm room door. He would often stand in the hall, to not bother his roommate, talking on the phone stark naked while floor mates watched tv or studied in the common area.
Thats an interesting story-
I would not have thought it possible from what I know of the schools conservative nature.
On the other hand, I had heard about some friends roommate whod regularly go to/from the bathroom nude in a dorm at Bethel (MN), which is also pretty conservative
I didn't go away to college -- never lived in a dorm.
At that time of my life, although I greatly preferred being nude, I was not confident enough to be openly nude like that. However, if someone else were doing it, that would probably been enough encouragement for me to be nude, too.

Most guys in my floor at Moody went from the room to the shower room nude, this guy was just always naked
What is it like in your old dorm today? Moody is known for being fundamentalistic and against social-oriented ministries, deeply conservative in other words. I imagine it was a male-only dorm room and that things have changed since the late 80's when you were apparently there. These churches typically shifted their policies in the 1980s to become more conservative. The Southern Baptist Church for example supported abortion rights in the 1970s. It's understandable that, like naked swimming in high schools and the YMCA, they saw male social nudity as natural and humble and have since shifted their views.
When I was in college as soon as I got home from work and got to my floor which was the 3rd floor I would start getting undressed. By the time I get to my room at the end of the hall I was nude and carried my clothes in my hands. Once in the room I would drop my clothes in the hamper and say hi to my roommate, grab a bath towel and hygiene kit and head for the showers wearing just my shower shoes and a smile. 99% of the time no saw me.
