How big a detour will you take so you can skinnydip?

Return to Discussions

I have several spots where I skinnydip on my travels around the area where I live, but all of them require a little detour off my usual route from point A to point B. Most of my swims are after-work on weekdays, I rarely plan a whole day outing for nude recreation.

Tonight I went to a lovely spot on a huge lake (pic below) . Very hot day (90s F), the lake was perfect--calm, cool, refreshing. An idyll for sure. It's a five mile side trip from the highway to get there, 10 mile round trip. I spent about an hour in bliss.

Some of the spots I get to are 25 miles off my usual route. They are some of my favorite places on planet Earth.

I've been wondering, how far are others willing to travel to get to a place where you can enjoy nudity out in nature?

I moved to Vero Beach full time about a year ago. I hear the beaches here are very nice, but I would not know since I have never been to any of them since they are all textile. Instead, when I want a beach day, I drive 40 minutes to Blind Creek Beach in St. Lucie County where I can be nude. There has only been less than 5 times in the last 20 years that I swam at beach, lake, river or swimming hole wearing anything and then it was just a Swim brief

Was it difficult for you to get used to swimming in your community pool wearing a swimsuit?

No, not at all. since I moved to Florida over 22 years ago, all the places I lived had community pools and with the exception of one place I lived at for 18 months all of them required swimsuits, also at the gym it is required.
For me, nudity is a preference, not an obsession.
The context of this post is How big a detour will you take so you can skinny dip. When I lived in Upstate, NY I would drive 50 miles to a beach on Lake Ontario that was unofficially a nude beach. When I lived in Ft Lauderdale, I would drive 40 minutes to Haulover vs Ft Lauderdale beach that was less than 2 miles away, and now that I am in Vero, as I stated I will drive 40 minutes to Blind Creek vs 15 minutes to the beach here.

I believe you said that never wearing more than a swim brief in the water applies to pools also.
Have you experienced any comments on your selection of swimwear? If so, positive, negative or both?

This is a delay, not a detour but seems to fit anyway.
How long have you only gone to an (outdoor) pool in the late afternoon or evening so you can avoid tan lines?
