Clothing Optional Venues

Return to Discussions

Who here goes to C/O venues and wear clothes? My opinion is, if I go through the time, effort and expense to travel to an area where nudity is allowed, then I want to spend as much time as possible nude. If the weather is conducive to nudity, why wear anything? There are hundreds of thousands of places I can go where I HAVE to remain clothed, so if I want to wear clothes I can just go to one of them. If you go somewhere that clothing is optional, why wear clothes? What's the point of going, if not to get nekkid?

I agree completely. If nudity is allowed, why wear clothes ! I stayed at a clothing optional place in Ft Lauderdale for a few days and while on the grounds was completely naked. Was awesome to be nude outdoors and not worry about being seen. Last night staying there I lounged by the pool nude under the stars just being one with nature.

I totally agree with everyone, Im paying the money and making the trek to be naked. If its a cold day or whatever I totally understand but when its hot and sunny out there is no reason to see anyone with cloths on.. I understand though that the advantage to clothing optional, is nice for people who are starting out with nudism. for someone new that can transition at their own pace, but I've seen several people at several places I've been who are nude the pool hot tub and everywhere it's required but as soon as they're done swimming they dry off and put their clothes back on. some people it seems enjoy social nudism but don't feel they need to be nude all the time. only other hand I'm naked as much is absolutely possible.

I find such places to often be cliquish and generally avoid them. As a single man, people tend to be wary of me. I prefer for nudity to be incidental and nature to be primary, but that makes it hard to find nude places to relax.

That's the main benefit of the C/O resort. My wife was one of those people who started out that way: being nude only in/around the pool or hot-tub, and covering up - with a towel or beach cover-up/sundress - to walk around and outside of the "nude mandatory" areas. That allowed her to not feel too "exposed" all the time and progress at her own pace.

But that lasted only one summer. After a few trips she'd been nude enough around other people to stop worrying about how "much of her" other people saw. So she decided to stop covering up and enjoy other activities naked - such as hiking and boating - outside the pool area. So now we both enjoy just staying naked for the entire visit and getting the "full nudist experience."

The only issue with C/O is when TOO MANY people cover up outside the pool area. I feel it "takes away" from the nudist experience when a bunch of people around you are covered up. Luckily the resort I go to has many "pro-nudity" patrons. The vast majority of people outside the pool area are naked like us.

As an attendee of a CO public beach (and one who generally strips down at the sign) I have wondered about the guys who turn up and remain in their swimsuits which, while brief, are more conservative than what I choose at almost any beach) but I guess they may still appreciate a laissez faire vibe which they may not feel elsewhere.

Or perhaps they just like looking around. :-)

Are some of them with friends who are nude? Almost everyone who is not nude at the nude beach I visit is either with someone who is nude or not adequately dressed for other beaches.

No, usually in pairs of guys. The nude/non-nude combo usually manifests as husband-&-wife couples where the wife wears a bikini or just goes topless.

I see more of that , but also sometimes see all male pairs or groups that are a mix of clothed and nude.
Occasionally see a male-female couple with the woman nude and man not.
One unusual incident as when a man and woman had set up near me when I returned from a walk. He was wearing board shorts and she was nude. They needed help with something and we got talking. Turned out that she had just asked him if he wanted to go to the beach and he agreed. She didn't tell him it was a clothing optional beach until they got there. He did drop the shorts a little while later, but strangely put them back on for a while more than once.

My wife doesn't like to see anyone nude beside me, so she would not go even if she were to remain clothed. Once she mentioned that she thought that there were too many rear shots of nude men in PG-13 movies. I jokingly said that if she watched more R rated movies she would probably get a different view. She did not appreciate the humor.
