The sanctioned nude area at the Mohonk Preserve can be found downstream from the Split Rock Area of the preserve. It is clearly marked that nudism is allowed and the trail is easy to follow/hike and maintained. The area downstream features a shallow stream for wading or soaking in, plenty of flat rocks to set up chairs, in some places there are water chutes in which one can slide down. Do NOT go beyond the posted boundary of the land (and it is marked well) in to the private property. They will contact the rangers. Go mid day for best sun. The stream is bordered by tall pines and other trees which makes it a great place for hot hot days. And don't forget, you can hike topless, ladies too, it's legal in NY, from your car to the nude area.

The sanctioned nude bathing area is downstream from Split Rock in the Mohonk Preserve west of New Paltz, NY. Swimmingholes.org mentions the area as the main website for the preserve does not. Having personally visited there just last summer, the trail is well marked, maintained and has a sign that states that nudity is allowed past that point.
