Had a home a few years ago where I was a full-time nudist in my house & backyard. Over the years, I rented a room to different housemates. Some were nudists, some not. I made it clear in the beginning that I would ALWAYS be nude, even when they would invite guests to come over. Not once did I ever have a problem with a clothed person concerning my nudity. Thats because its all about how I behaved. Im so comfortable with my naked body, and doing normal, everyday things, that my conduct put (clothed) people at ease. I was very sexual when I lived there, but I kept a hard line between that and my everyday nudity. If it wasnt a sexual situation, then I didnt act like it, nor ever got aroused. I even demonstrated a sex toy for a clothed, mixed group, at their request. It would normally be used when a man had an erection, but since it wasnt a sexual situation, I didnt have one. I told many people that social nudity and sexual behavior are completely separate things. I also imparted this adage:
Social nudity is not about SEEING or being SEEN.
Its about BEING nude.

Apr 13, 2025I know about three months have gone by, and it was said on this thread that I was behaving like a 4 year old when I rightly advised in the early years of living, that people actually did live naked. There were various reasons for this and one such reason was the lack of materials to make cloths. Anyway moving on, here is some information from other nudists research that I came across where they understand more about the message I was trying to get across on this forum...
The question that sparked this exploration into naturism and primitively reveals a common misconception about both concepts, highlighting a lack of understanding of their true nature and implications. Primitively, often associated with pre-civilization or early human societies, does not inherently involve a conscious choice to be naked. For primitive people, nudity was a natural state, devoid of the cultural or social meanings it carries today. They were naked for practical reasons related to their environment and lifestyle needs, not out of philosophical or lifestyle choices. Their lack of clothing was not a statement or an ideology but a simple fact of their existence, often dictated by the climate, activities, or absence of available materials for clothing.

Difficult for me to understand why people have a hard time separating the two.

Mar 13, 2026I have a difficult time understanding why nudism and sex have to be separated. Textiles have sex.

Mar 14, 2026On a less flippant note, yes textiles have sex, but you never see them make love. Its private.
As a nudist, its exactly the same for us..
Understand now?

Apr 17, 2026In my opinion the rules about sexual behaviour are exactly the same for social naturism as they are for clothed social meetings.

Wife and I are an older couple. Both of us have had other partners over the years. Seems like adults should understand that anytime people mingle nude there's gonna be thoughts of a sexual nature.

Apr 21, 2026
Wife and I are an older couple. Both of us have had other partners over the years. Seems like adults should understand that anytime people mingle nude there's gonna be thoughts of a sexual nature.
I came to an understanding years ago that what goes on in someone's head when they see my wife naked is inconsequential. I'm sure some people, at the various venues we've been to, may have had prurient thoughts upon seeing her "exposed." Heck; maybe some even had the opposite reaction lol. What matters, as it is often said; is behavior. And my wife's comfort with it. As long as their "inner dialogue" is not manifested into action; who cares?ReagierenAntworten - ST

Sexual thoughts happen regardless of how people are dressed.ReagierenAntworten - AR
Jul 12, 2026As a Christian naturist, who believes in the gospel of Jesus and who practices social mixed-gender nudity:
-We know that nudity is essential for hygiene, medical examination and sexual intimacy. These are already separated categories for the practice of nudity. A naturist simply adds nude recreation to the list.
-Our practice of social nudity is strictly non-sexual. Be nude, not crude.
-Just because we're naked and you can see my sexual parts--and I can see yours--doesn't mean that I expect either of us to do anything about it.
-we also don't believe in imposing our freedom on those who would be made uncomfortable. Be nude, not rude.
-It would be helpful to establish a good working definition of naturist practice, viz, naturism is the practice of interacting with the natural world--sun and water, etc., without the mediation of clothing with like-minded people of both sexes.I hope this is helpful.

I hope this is helpful.
While I applaud any measure that illuminates the subject, so that we all know what we're talking about, I'm afraid that the particular definition would not satisfy everyone, because everybody has their own idea of what constitutes "nudism," "naturism" or even "freedom." But I think that your definition of naturism is as good as any. It's identical to mine. And unlike other definitions, which require some sort of social interaction, it allows for solitary nudity as long as the person is conscious of the fact that their body is often better attuned to the environment when naked. A nudist or naturist can put some clothing on when their environment demands it. My personal definition is that when it doesn't make sense to wear clothes, it makes sense not to wear clothes.ReagierenAntworten
