I have tent camped a few times in my adult life but my back refused to try it again so I purchased a pop-up camper, later I traded it for a hard shell. If I had my choice I would purchase a pop-up again, my wife on the other hand wants a 35-40 foot fifth wheel with satellite tv , microwave, fireplace and a toilet and shower, heck might as well stay home I got all that here.
hehe, what can you say, .......that's what wives do! ........no sence of adventure! ....hehe

The best camping trip I was ever on required a tent. I hiked a couple of miles up a mountain and camped there. That meant limiting what you carried, good thing I have manual pump for air mattress. The view of the sun coming up over the mountain was fantastic.

I've really enjoyed all your responses, by the way.Gator
Glad we could each, in our own way, provide you with "sound" advice. A few years back I wrote a poem about camping. If I can find it, would you like me to share it with you?

Sure. Sounds like fun.
My wife and I camp a couple times a month, year round. WE live in AZ so it's easier to enjoy it year round. We like the freedom it offers us
Gator, read this one again...air matress essential, 12v quick pump imperative! (ummm, of course some of us have enough hot air to fill a balloon)

The air mattress and pump are already packed and ready to go tomorrow afternoon!
I've been camping since I was 6 months old and I've done it every way you can possibly imagine from walking into the woods and finding a nice tree to lay under to sleeping in a 40 foot RV. I've got a garage full of every imaginable piece of camping paraphernalia. After a few years in the military sleeping with my head in the mud and a car accident that made a mess of my back I'm definitely all for the Rvs with heat and a comfy bed. Sleeping on the ground in a tent is near total torture for me at this point and takes a good couple hours for me to get up and moving in the morning.
