I just finished The Devil Aspect. Quite good, psychologist seeking to understand why people do evil amidst a Jack the Ripper copycat in Eastern Europe late 1930s. And yes, the developing issues in Germany are on the mind as well. Lots of plot twists and turns, and leaves you with things to think about as well.

The Native Tongue trilogy, by Suzette Haden Elgin. I found out about it through my interest in the Laadan language, and, fortuitously, the trilogy was rereleased earlier this year.
